Positive Thinking in Trials

Life is a constant cycle of sunshine and smiles
then a storm comes; along with tears and frustrations. Storms cannot be controlled by us. Most times there is nothing that we can do in the midst of a storm to make it end sooner. So we grab our umbrella, rain boots and strap in
for the ride. During the storm we do our best not to complain but sometimes it is to no avail. Sometimes it is hard to see the sunshine at the end of the storm so we may become impatient or angry.

What is the purpose of these trials? Why do
storms arise in our lives? Car is low on gas and payday isn’t for another week, in a relationship for months then randomly there is arguing everyday over small things, grades in school start dropping and it’s close to the end of the
semester, friends don’t understand you, things at work are getting hectic and your boss is getting on your nerves…So many trials come up on a daily basis.
There is no way to avoid most of those situations so the best that you can do is
think positive through it all. But How?? How can one think positively in the midst of chaos and confusion?? The answer:
to save and heal. Jesus did not have a trial free life so what makes you think that your life will be trial free?

Romans 5: 3-5 says- “And not only that but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance, and
perseverance, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint,
because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who
was given to us.”

Remember, every difficult situation that you go
through is teaching you perseverance which is steady persistence especially in spite of difficulties; endurance; duration, etc. It’s like climbing a mountain. Yes, it is challenging. You get worn out and want to give up but you keep
climbing at a steady pace up the mountain so that you can reach the top. You have to keep pushing yourself and reminding yourself that you will be at the top of the mountain sooner than you think. Your mindset should be the same within trials; remember that it will be over soon. Going through trials also builds your character which is who you are. It shapes you into a better you because you are learning as you go through life and taking something from every situation. Trials also give youhope. Hope is an expectation; something desired; to place
trust in. You expect that the rough time will be over one day and if you are a Christian you trust in God and expect that He is allowing you to go through the situation for a reason.

Keep Romans 8:28 in mind whenever you go through something: “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”
When you look at a trial that you’ve been through recently you should be able to point out at least one positive thing from the situation. In everything there is some good to be said. If you can never think of something positive to say in any given situation then you should really question if you are a negative person. If you are a negative person you can change from that. I used to be very negative and thrive off drama like most people do; but I changed from it by speaking more positive than negative. I would look at the bright side of everything. In order to make it through this unpredictable, chaotic, trial-filled, crazy life you MUST think positively. Your mind sets the mood of your day. Your thoughts effect your actions and attitude. If you walk through this life upset by everything tough
situation that comes you will be miserable until the day that you die and I can guarantee that. I’m sure that you have heard the quote: “God did not promise that in this life we would not have any trials, but He did promise to be with us every step of the way.” God is by your side and He loves you.

Look at Jesus Christ. He came to Earth and lived
a perfect and even He went through trials. Right after He was baptized by John the Baptist He was tempted by Satan. He was mocked by the Pharisees and spit on by the very people that He can

When you focus on what is happening right now in your life it will be difficult to see past it. So look at the Bright Side. If you fall, get back up and keep walking. Think outside of your current situation and remember that every trial has a purpose.
God Bless
