The Journey of Life and Growth

Journey- the act of traveling from one place to another

The emotions that surface when we hear this word are often times contingent upon the destination and the context.

Natural Hair Journey- “ugh, it takes so long for my hair to grow!”

Growing as a person- “ugh, it’s painful to leave my comfort zone!”

Being successful in life- “ugh, I don’t want to work. I just want to snap my fingers and have all the money I need!”

HOWEVER, if the topic was to plan a vacation to the BEACH we may not dread that journey so much because we might envision a road trip with friends filled with stupid jokes and priceless memories…  Going to a beach for vacation is a journey that most of us would volunteer to take five times a year.

…But when it comes to life situations we often don’t appreciate the journey.

Perhaps we dread the journey because:

  1. it comes with many growing pains
  2. we don’t know how long the journey will last & we’re impatient or
  3. we don’t know what unforeseen issues will pop up on the journey

We get it twisted and see the journey as an hindrance rather than a helper.

How is the journey a helper?

Even on challenging trips there is an abundance of beauty:

*learning more about yourself

*cherishing the friends that were there with you along the way

*getting rid of character weights that are holding you back from who you want to become

There is beauty in every journey. No one just ‘arrives’.
