Wonderful Maker

During my P&W (Praise and Worship) time I listened to Chris Tomlin “Wonderful Maker”. the words say: “You made the world and saw that it was good. You sent Your only Son for You are good. what a wonderful Maker, what a wonderful Savior, how majestic Your whispers and how humble Your love… with the strength like no other and the heart of a Father, how majestic Your wisdom, what a wonderful God.”
I want to go through this chorus line by line because it truly speaks to who God is and it speaks to His perfect character. The lyrics of this song bring joy to my spirit and comfort to my anxious heart. Let’s discover the depths of this song together…
“You made the world and saw that it was good” =God created the world; a random big bang did not. In the very first book of the Bible (Genesis), Moses, the author explains how God created the world with His words. God spoke everything into existence. The only creation that was made without words was MAN. Genesis 2:7 says “and the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.” So from the very beginning God has been personal with human beings. He personally formed man out of the dust of the ground, then breathed life into the first man whose name was Adam. After each thing that God created He saw it as good. But after God created Adam He said that it was not good because it’s not good for man to be alone so God caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep and from the rib of Adam, God created Eve to be Adam’s helper. So in the end all of God’s creation was good in His sight.
“You sent Your only Son for You are good” =In the beginning after God created everything that we just talked about above, the relationship between God and mankind was perfect and complete. BUT, sin entered the picture when Adam and Eve disregarded God’s authority by eating from the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil after they were told not to. That sin ruined the relationship between humans and God because God is perfect and He is just. He’s so holy and perfect that He cannot dwell with sin at all. (I pray that I haven’t lost you)… God had anger stored up against us humans because of our sin. In order to be restored back to a good relationship our continued sin had to be punished. God loves us so much and He knew that we wouldn’t be the ones to initiate the restoration in our relationship and He knows that we cannot withstand His perfect anger against our disobedience toward Him. So God sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross; taking all of God’s wrath toward our sin out on Jesus in our place so that we can be restored in our relationship with God. God didn’t do this because we earned it or because we are good people… No. God sent His perfect Son to take our place because God is good. (if you have any questions about this part please email me or leave a comment).
“What a wonderful Maker; What a wonderful Savior”  =
God is wonderful! He made us and He saved us from His wrath (anger) against our sin.
“How majestic Your whisper; How humble Your love” =God speaks to us in a still small voice. His love is meek, gentle, modest.
“With a strength like no other and the heart of a Father” =God is all powerful. He has all authority. 1Corinthians 15:55 says “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” Jesus Christ who is fully God, defeated death when He rose from the grave. God has all power over death. Death could not hold Him.
God also has the heart of a Father: “My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him; for whom the LORD loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives. If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a Father does not chasten?” Hebrews 12:5-7. Chasten means to punish.
“What a wonderful God” =according to Webster Dictionary God is the Supreme Being; the ruler of Life and the universe. I believe that they summed it up accurately. What I described is just a small part of God’s perfect character. God is not some evil made up person who barks out orders and looks down on human beings. Rather, He is so kind, so loving… He doesn’t expect us to follow a list of rules on our own. He knows that we are born into sin. He is the one who enables us to obey Him. In order to be saved we don’t have to follow a list of rules and laws like most religions.

In order to be saved you must: -acknowledge and believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, -that Jesus Christ died on the cross and took God’s wrath on our behalf, -and you must believe that after three days of being dead Jesus Christ rose again and is now in heaven on the throne, seated next to God. Once you are saved you will obey God because you love Him and appreciate all that He has done for you.

A famous quote that sums it up is: Christians don’t obey in order to be saved; they obey because they are saved.I understand that I said a lot in one blog but this is important.

Praise God because He is a wonderful Maker and a wonderful God. 🙂
